What’s the difference between a General Admission ticket and a VIP ticket?
General Admission ticket holders receive complimentary cocktails and a gourmet food buffet throughout the evening, plus access to a variety of special cocktail science activities, demonstrations, and programs.

With a VIP ticket, you receive all the benefits of a General Admission ticket plus special perks. VIP ticket holders have access to the Top-Shelf VIP Lounge, which features additional bars and premium spirits. You will also have access to a variety of special programs and activities.

Are any discounts available?
Yes, we have a few discounts available:
  • Current Members of the Exploratorium Lab receive 10% off of their ticket purchase. Please use the discount code emailed to you during checkout to obtain this discount.
  • If you are not yet a Lab member, you can receive a 20% discount on your Science of Cocktails tickets when you buy one of our special Science of Cocktails packages. These packages are available at www.exploratorium.edu/scienceofcocktails.
  • Group discounts for purchases of 10 tickets or more are available. Please email scienceofcocktails@exploratorium.edu for more information.
Is my ticket purchase tax-deductible?
Yes, a portion of your purchase is tax-deductible. Please retain your ticket purchase receipt for your files.

Do you sell tickets at the door?
We offer advance ticket sales only. We don’t sell tickets at the door. Ticket sales end on January 23 or when the event sells out, whichever comes first.
What time does the event start?
Check-in begins at 7:45 p.m. Entrance to the event is at 8:00 p.m.
What time does it end?
Last call is 11:00 p.m. Bars close at 11:15 p.m. The event ends promptly at 11:30 p.m.
How do I get to the Exploratorium?
The Exploratorium is easily accessible by public transportation; we strongly encourage attendees to use it to get to and from the event. If you drive, please designate a driver. Visit our website for detailed information on getting to the Exploratorium and available parking.
Where do I pick up my ticket?
Electronic tickets are emailed to the ticket purchaser upon completion of the online ticket purchase transaction. If you have purchased a ticket but did not receive your electronic tickets, please first check your spam folder. If you are still having difficulties, contact us at scienceofcocktails@exploratorium.edu or (415) 528-4402.
I bought a ticket for my friends, and they can’t come. Can I get my money back?
Unfortunately, tickets are not refundable.
What should I wear to Science of Cocktails?
There is no dress code, but we encourage festive or cocktail attire.

I'm a member of the press. Do you reserve tickets for press?
We do reserve a limited number of tickets for qualified press. If you would like to attend as a member of the press, send your press credentials to Jenny Slafkosky in our our Public Information Department at jslafkosky@exploratorium.edu
If I promise not to drink, can I come to the event if I'm under 21 years of age?
No one under the age of 21 is permitted to attend the event. There will be no exceptions, and security will be carding ticket holders as they enter.
Is there a coat check available?
There is a complimentary coat check available at the event. Backpacks, briefcases, tote bags, or any other such items, are not permitted inside of Science of Cocktails. You will be asked to leave them at the coat check.
Will there be food available?
Heavy hors d’oeuvres are provided throughout the evening, and we encourage you to eat as well as drink.
Will there be nonalcoholic beverages available?
Water will be provided throughout the evening, as well as coffee and tea. Non-alcoholic cocktails will also be available.
Where do I get one of those awesome Science of Cocktails posters?
Event posters will be on sale in the Exploratorium Store prior to, during, and after the event.
Where can I get the recipes for the cocktails served at Science of Cocktails?
Recipes for all past Science of Cocktails events are available on our website. Recipes from this year’s event will be posted after the event. You can also pick up recipe cards which are available at each bar during the event.
